This notice explains what personal information Haibo Africa Institute ("we"), part of Haibo! Africa, collects on this website, why, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- When you send a form (contact, newsletter, organisation proposal, incubator application): the details you type in, such as your name, email address, phone number and message, plus the date and time you agreed to this notice.
- When you create an account or buy a course: your name, email address, billing details and order history. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your card number.
- When you learn: which lessons you complete and your knowledge-check progress, so we can show your progress and issue your certificate.
- When you take the Business Readiness Check: your answers are scored and kept for 30 days under a random code, without your name. We only receive your email address if you ask us to send you the result.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site sets only the cookies it needs to work, such as keeping you logged in and remembering your cart.
Why we use it
To reply to you, to deliver the courses you sign up for, to run the incubator application process, to send the newsletter you subscribed to, and to keep the site secure (for example by limiting how many forms one connection can send).
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run this website for us: our hosting provider, our email delivery service and our payment provider. We don't sell or rent your information. We may disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Form messages: up to 24 months. Learner accounts and progress: while your account is active. Orders and invoices: as long as the law requires. You can ask us to delete your information sooner, unless we must keep it by law.
Your rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Email hello@haibo.africa and we'll respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
